It’s no secret that I’m drawn to water. It’s been my happy place and what allows me to truly unwind, so most of my earlier vacations revolved around islands and beach time. I seek out the clearest waters, the most idyllic tropical locations and of course the best resorts! If you have the inkling to escape to an exotic tropical locale, you’ll love these overwater bungalows in 4 distinct locations-Tahiti, Maldives, Jamaica and Mexico. They represent the best of barefoot luxury and the uniqueness of being able to step right into the water from your room.
Summer vacations are all about getting active, getting out in nature and enjoying the sunshine. Most of us take the opportunity to explore new territory-to go and do and see as much as we can in a very short amount of time, often returning from these trips needing a vacation from our vacation! As tempting as it is to pack every moment of our time off with new adventures, sometimes what we really need is a little quiet time to be still and allow ourselves to recharge. It’s lazy days feeling the sand between your toes and the warm ocean breeze on your face-no agenda, no timelines, no schedules. It’s allowing yourself to wake up with the sun and fall asleep in the moonlight, with maybe even a nap thrown in midday—because you can!

Are you getting inspired for your summer vacation? So far I’ve shared cruise options and a variety of all-inclusive resorts, from a dude ranch, to beach fitness in the Caribbean, and a Southern California Zen retreat.
Although these options are wonderful, maybe you are craving more? Whether it’s you and your significant other or your entire extended family, there’s nothing like exploring new countries and cultures with your favorite people. Planning an entire trip from start to finish, within a foreign country, while trying to meet the needs of each person in the group, and trying to sort through the endless information online - can be extremely overwhelming. I can help! One of my favorite types of trips - both to plan and also to experience for myself personally - are customized global itineraries. I’m not talking about your “off-the-shelf, boxed vacations”, I’m talking about a highly personalized trip based on what you and your travel companions enjoy most. Scroll to the bottom of the post to see custom itineraries I designed for some very special clients! Every year in August, I attend Virtuoso Travel Week. This global gathering brings together the best of the best travel advisors, tour operators, hoteliers, and tourism bureaus who are part of the exclusive Virtuoso Travel Network.
While it is an incredible opportunity to learn about updates within the industry and make connections, it is also an intense week of nonstop "being on" - through meetings, cocktail receptions, dinners, nighttime events, etc.- and the week is spent in constant close proximity to people from all parts of the world. Why do I tell you this? Because every year, as hard as I have tried to stay healthy during Travel Week by bringing throat lozenges, anti-bacterial gel, herbal teas and even a humidifier in my hotel room, I inevitably get sick the following week! Last year, I tried something different. I was invited to attend a post-conference trip to The Golden Door. I had heard so much about this iconic wellness resort near San Diego but never had the time to experience it for myself. This was the opportunity to check off a bucket list experience and build in some transition time before going home. Summer is right around the corner and many of you, like me, are looking at how to keep the kids engaged over the coming months. But why should kids have all the fun? There are plenty of opportunities for adults to enjoy outdoor activities, relax in the lake or by the ocean and enjoy time with family and friends.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll highlight some resorts and experiences that are ideal for summer travel. Whether you’re going with your significant other, taking the kids and extended family, or going with your favorite friends, there’s a resort that’s perfect for getting some vitamin D, vitamin sea or vitamin N (for nature)! Hello Ladies,
I have been receiving a lot of questions regarding our next Women’s Retreat and I can't wait to start the planning process! While I have a few places in mind, I would love to know what YOU are interested in and be aware of your availability before I get started. Can you please take a few moments of your time to fill out this survey? After I collect the results, I will reach out to you again with an option or two. I’m so looking forward to our next trip together! As many of you did when the clock struck twelve last year, I too promised myself that I would seek a more active and healthy lifestyle in 2018. For me, this includes getting back to a healthy weight - something I feel remains a constant battle. Over the years, I’ve tried every diet known to mankind - Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach Diet, Low Carb, No Fat, Ideal Protein….you name it, I’ve done it. Although I lost the weight initially, over time the weight inevitably found me again!
That’s why I was very curious about Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa, and when I had the opportunity to do a “test drive” of their program last week, I jumped at the opportunity. Based in Miami, Pritikin’s program has been around for over 40 years and claims that clients not only lose the weight but keep it off over the long term. Initially offered as a program for patients suffering from obesity, hypertension, high blood pressure and diabetes, this medically-managed program now not only serves those who have been urged by their doctors to lose weight for medical reasons, but also those looking to reset, and to get back in shape the healthy way. As the dust settles on the holidays and you begin to look ahead to 2018, many are starting to plan their adventures for the coming year. If you’re a cruiser, there’s no better time than the present to take advantage of the savings offered by many cruise lines during what’s termed “wave season” in the travel industry.
find balance in your life through wellness travel! What do you think of when you hear “wellness vacation?” If you are picturing yogis meditating on a mountain top, you are not alone. But in reality, wellness vacations cover a wide spectrum of activities that are centered around escaping the daily grind to focus on taking care of YOU. The key to a successful wellness vacation lies in determining your INTENTION. What is it you’re looking to do while you’re away?
A UNESCO World Heritage City
The entire city of Anuradhapura, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka, is an archaeological site of palaces, monuments, and monasteries and therefore has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Some areas have been excavated and preserved while others remain below ground waiting for the next wave of projects to uncover them. From the oldest Bodhi tree to the most sacred stupa, from the Twin Ponds where 6,000 monks were known to have bathed to the masterfully engineered Stone Bridge which allowed access from Anuradhapura to the main ports on the coast, even in monsoon flooding, there is a plethora of sights to be seen.
Sri Lanka has an amazing array of wildlife and natural parks. Monkeys and water monitors openly roam the land but elephants and leopards can be seen in their natural setting by visiting the national parks. I spent the day getting up close and personal with the wildlife and also stopping to experience the culture and people of the community.
