THE MAGIC & MYSTERY OF CUBA
SANTA CLARA, TRINIDAD, BAY OF PIGS, VINALES & HAVANA
April 27-May 4, 2019
April 27-May 4, 2019
Cuba has been on my bucket list for many years. I’ve been fascinated with the classic cars and the notion that time has stood still on this island nation for many decades. With the constant changes in US policy as well as shifts within the country itself, there may be some apprehension about travel to Cuba. In my numerous discussions with my travel partners in Cuba, who have been operating in the region for over 30 years, I’ve been assured that there have been no incidences with tourists in any of the locations or hotels we are visiting.
There is also some confusion with the latest news about visas. Rest assured that visas to Cuba are still being issued. It is visas FROM Cuba to the U.S. that are impacted.

I still believe there is no better time than the present to explore this beautiful country while it’s still in it’s authentic form. This also means that if you’re thinking about travel to Cuba, you have to be willing to go with an open mind and a go-with-the-flow attitude. I’ve made every effort to ensure that our group has the best guides, the best possible accommodations, and authentic, local experiences. I’ve woven in colonial cities with the beautiful countryside and ensured that we are walking, hiking, biking whenever possible-I truly believe the best way to see a place is by being close to the land and its people.
Since music and dance are such and integral part of the culture, I've included visits to see the street art as well as the masterpieces in the Fine Arts Museum of Havana. We'll see a special dance rehearsal of the famous Habana Compas Dance Company as well as get the chance to put on our own dancing shoes and join the local people in town squares. I've also secured center orchestra seats at the iconic Alicia Alonso Gran Teatro de Habana for our farewell event!

We’ll explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trinidad, a Spanish colonial city with it’s cobblestone streets and its neo-baroque main square. We’ll see the changing color of mountains in the Valley of Vinales and learn about agricultural techniques of tobacco and other crops. We’ll stroll through Old Havana, Revolution Square and visit San Jose Almacenes Artisans’ Market.
We’ll learn how the Cuban government rations and how farmers and artisans work and live. Throughout our journey, we’ll enjoy freshly-prepared meals together at authentic Paladars, listen to local musicians while we practice our Salsa and Rumba in the town plazas as well as in the most well-known social club of the 40s, 50s and 60s.
I’ve spent nearly a year building a trip that I think will cover many facets of this incredible country and allow us to see the best of Cuba. Although there have been bumps in the road, from the changing availability of hotel rooms to the recent rezoning of Cienfuegos as a domestic airport, my vision for a journey through Cuba that highlights the best of the destination remains constant.
