Don't Drop Cuba From Your Bucket LIst Just Yet!

Most of us got wind of the latest restrictions for travel to Cuba from the Trump administration early last week. With a swift and broad stroke, all cruise travel originating from U.S. ports was banned as was the "People to People" tours under which U.S. citizens could visit this island nation. There was a caveat in that if you had already purchased some component of your trip by June 5th, either flights or hotel for example,  you could be grandfathered in and still proceed as scheduled. For those that had been dreaming of going to Cuba or were planning on visiting in the near future but hadn't acted on it yet, you may have felt that you missed your window of opportunity.

Well, don't lose hope so soon. While cruising to and from the United States to Cuba may be a thing of the past as of June 5th, there is still a way to explore the island via land based tours. Of the original approved reasons to legally visit Cuba, "Support of the Cuban People" and "Professional Meetings" are still allowed. This means that as long as the itinerary includes helping the local people or is a meeting or incentive group, you're good to go.

From our end, not much has changed. We work with the best travel partners in Cuba and our itineraries always include eating at privately owned restaurants (paladares), visiting local artists and musicians, and supporting community activities. We feel you can't visit a country, especially one like Cuba, without getting authentic experiences that get you in touch with the people and culture. Cuba has so much to offer, from the bustling streets of Havana to the serene valleys of Vinales, and we can customize a trip so you can experience the highlights in just about one week!

As always, after our initial consultation to better understand your travel preferences, we can customize an itinerary to focus on what you enjoy most, whether that's food, art, architecture or history. You'll find that our itineraries allow you to see so many facets of Cuba in a short amount of time. So if you have Havana on your mind, contact us and let's check this one off your bucket list!
