4 Fast Track Programs That Take The Hassle Out of Air Travel

Summer travel is right around the corner and while many may dread the long lines at the airport and the endless waiting in security and customs lines, I have learned how to breeze through these areas so I can focus on the journey ahead.

With my own trip to India coming up in the next week, I thought I’d share some tips to make getting through airports less of a hassle via the various Trusted Traveler programs (including TSA Pre-Check and Global Entry) as well as CLEAR and VIP Meet & Greet Services offered at many international airports.

The goal is to get you from the curb to the gate as quickly as possible and to ensure your time is spent enjoying a cocktail or a spa service rather than waiting in long airport lines.

In my opinion, there are 3 things that comprise a memorable vacation: a fabulous hotel to pamper you, wonderful experiences to look back upon, and of course a great meal that warms your heart and your belly - making you want to return just for another taste.

This week, I want to focus on just that-incredible travel opportunities for foodies (aren’t we all?)! Whether it’s a cruise, and all-inclusive resort, or a private dining experience as part of your customized itinerary - having a variety of gourmet dining options are a must.

Summer Vacation planning & Some great promos

As we head into spring, I know many of us are still trying to think of ways to escape the unending rain that is battering the Bay Area. However, summer will be here before you know it and you don’t want to be left without any plans to take advantage of the glorious sunshine and long, lazy days.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been offering travel inspiration to help you select the best summer vacation for you and your family. We’ve discussed cruise options and wellness retreats, dude ranches and beach escapes. It ultimately comes down to what you envision as the ideal way to spend some much needed time off with those that mean the most to you.

Although summer may seem like it’s months away, there’s no better time than now to start planning. It’s not called peak travel season for nothing! With everyone looking for ways to head out and experience new adventures, the best hotels and airfares will be snatched up before you know it. That said, I would encourage you to reach out to me as soon as possible so you can also get your pick of resorts and room categories. I’ll be traveling myself, exploring wellness and active adventures in the Himalayas in Rishikesh, India from April 15-29 (follow along on Instagram or Facebook!). I would love to help you with your travel plans ideally before I leave, but of course I’ll be available in early May again for those of you who are compelled to act at the 11th hour (you know who you are!).

For those of you still deciding, here’s a little extra incentive:

Join Me To Discover the mystery and magic of Cuba-Dec 2018

Do you have Havana on your mind? Cuba is on many people’s bucket lists, including my own. I have visions of riding in convertible classic cars with the warm Caribbean sun caressing my face and the ocean breeze gliding through my hair. I imagine myself swaying to the beat of the Cuban drum as I learn to salsa with the locals in the town square.
Picture
This December, I’m going to turn these visions into reality! With the help of my travel partners in Cuba, I’ve curated a fantastic itinerary full of history, culture, arts and music. We’re going to meander through the cobblestone streets of Spanish Colonial Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring markets and touring the Museum of Colonial Architecture.

4 Overwater Bungalows That Will Have You Packing For Your Next Escape!

Summer vacations are all about getting active, getting out in nature and enjoying the sunshine. Most of us take the opportunity to explore new territory-to go and do and see as much as we can in a very short amount of time, often returning from these trips needing a vacation from our vacation! As tempting as it is to pack every moment of our time off with new adventures, sometimes what we really need is a little quiet time to be still and allow ourselves to recharge. It’s lazy days feeling the sand between your toes and the warm ocean breeze on your face-no agenda, no timelines, no schedules. It’s allowing yourself to wake up with the sun and fall asleep in the moonlight, with maybe even a nap thrown in midday—because you can!

It’s no secret that I’m drawn to water. It’s been my happy place and what allows me to truly unwind, so most of my earlier vacations revolved around islands and beach time. I seek out the clearest waters, the most idyllic tropical locations and of course the best resorts! If you have the inkling to escape to an exotic tropical locale, you’ll love these overwater bungalows in 4 distinct locations-Tahiti, Maldives, Jamaica and Mexico. They represent the best of barefoot luxury and the uniqueness of being able to step right into the water from your room.

Customized travel - your vacation, your way!

Are you getting inspired for your summer vacation? So far I’ve shared cruise options and a variety of all-inclusive resorts, from a dude ranch, to beach fitness in the Caribbean, and a Southern California Zen retreat.

Although these options are wonderful, maybe you are craving more?
Whether it’s you and your significant other or your entire extended family, there’s nothing like exploring new countries and cultures with your favorite people. Planning an entire trip from start to finish, within a foreign country, while trying to meet the needs of each person in the group, and trying to sort through the endless information online - can be extremely overwhelming.

I can help! O
ne of my favorite types of trips - both to plan and also to experience for myself personally - are customized global itineraries. I’m not talking about your “off-the-shelf, boxed vacations”, I’m talking about a highly personalized trip based on what you and your travel companions enjoy most.

Scroll to the bottom of the post to see custom itineraries I designed for some very special clients!

Summer Camp for Adults: Japanese Zen in Southern California

Every year in August, I attend Virtuoso Travel Week. This global gathering brings together the best of the best travel advisors, tour operators, hoteliers, and tourism bureaus who are part of the exclusive Virtuoso Travel Network.

While it is an incredible opportunity to learn about updates within the industry and make connections, it is also an intense week of nonstop "being on" - through meetings, cocktail receptions, dinners, nighttime events, etc.- and the week is spent in constant close proximity to people from all parts of the world. Why do I tell you this? Because every year, as hard as I have tried to stay healthy during Travel Week by bringing throat lozenges, anti-bacterial gel, herbal teas and even a humidifier in my hotel room, I inevitably get sick the following week!

Last year, I tried something different. I was invited to attend a post-conference trip to The Golden Door. I had heard so much about this iconic wellness resort near San Diego but never had the time to experience it for myself. This was the opportunity to check off a bucket list experience and build in some transition time before going home.

Summer is right around the corner and many of you, like me, are looking at how to keep the kids engaged over the coming months. But why should kids have all the fun? There are plenty of opportunities for adults to enjoy outdoor activities, relax in the lake or by the ocean and enjoy time with family and friends.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll highlight some resorts and experiences that are ideal for summer travel. Whether you’re going with your significant other, taking the kids and extended family, or going with your favorite friends, there’s a resort that’s perfect for getting some vitamin D, vitamin sea or vitamin N (for nature)!

Exploring "residential immersion" weight loss at Pritikin, Miami

As many of you did when the clock struck twelve last year, I too promised myself that I would seek a more active and healthy lifestyle in 2018. For me, this includes getting back to a healthy weight - something I feel remains a constant battle. Over the years, I’ve tried every diet known to mankind - Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, South Beach Diet, Low Carb, No Fat, Ideal Protein….you name it, I’ve done it. Although I lost the weight initially, over time the weight inevitably found me again!

That’s why I was very curious about Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa, and when I had the opportunity to do a “test drive” of their program last week, I jumped at the opportunity. Based in Miami, Pritikin’s program has been around for over 40 years and claims that clients not only lose the weight but keep it off over the long term. Initially offered as a program for patients suffering from obesity, hypertension, high blood pressure and diabetes, this medically-managed program now not only serves those who have been urged by their doctors to lose weight for medical reasons, but also those looking to reset, and to get back in shape the healthy way.
